American Eskimo Dog Rescue Information

Detectives, deputies and about 50 specially trained volunteers seized more than 370 dogs including pregnant females from what Humane Society officials called one of the nation's largest and worst puppy mills in Kennewick located in Washington State..  AEDCA, AEDAW, Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue, Seattle Humane Society and Oregon Humane Society are all working in conjuction together, along with HSUS and the Benton County Sheriff's Department to assess, seek veterinary care, along with foster care and permanent homes for these animals.

A rescue fund through the American Eskimo Dog Assn of Washington to cover the expenses for the dogs has been established for those animals being cared for through AEDAW in Washington State. Sherry Myers, the president of AEDAW, http://www.aedaw.org, is also their rescue breed representitive for Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue with 20 years of service to the breed in finding forever homes for those animals who need them.  IF there are any funds left after this rescue is completed, any remaining funds will be directed to the American Eskimo Dog rescue account with Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Sherry Myers  at 206.409.1443.

What else you can do to help.....

·  Foster/rehabilitate until we can find forever homes
·  Raise, provide medical care and place litters of puppies
·  And, of course, find as many permanent homes as possible!

Sherry has 3 dams with litters and 3 dams ready-to-whelp which have been placed already and approx 10 other dogs needing foster care currently. Seattle & Portland's Humane Societies have 100 each.

On Saturday 5/30/09 three vans left Portland to pick up the dogs. Temperatures were high today in Kennewick, about 93 degrees, so the team tried to get the dogs to the Portland shelter as quickly as possible. OHS animal care manager Autumn White was on site and said that about half the dogs are in bad shape with urine burns and coats matted with fecal matter. OHS had volunteer groomers on standby for Sunday and Monday to help these animals.
